We even have a little space for locally made hand crafted gifts. We buy organic, free trade and local whenever possible. Over time we want to source as many herbs as possible from our farm and the community.
The Emporium at Willows Bend Farm has wonderful gift baskets that can be customized for anyone on your list! From essential oil blends and salt or sugar scrubs, to culinary delights of herbs and teas, plus a whole lot more - We would be pleased to help you with selections that will bring a smile to each special person in your life. Please contact us for pricing not listed - and thank you for your patience as we build our website to better serve you.
Education has always been a big part of what we do here. Over the years we have hosted interns and encouraged volunteers to learn how to grow using sustainable farming practices. Our recently added curriculum in the Home Arts Center revives lost skills of cooking, sewing, needlework, re-purposing, repair, and art for enjoyment.
Willow's Bend Farm is more than just a place of business, it is a way of life. Our farm works with nature instead of against. We don't use chemicals; instead, we create environments in which predatory insects thrive, shallow rooted weeds are allowed to grow, and fertilizer comes from the plants themselves. This is not a new approach. It is the old tried and true way of farming. It requires a lot more patience and attention to the plants, but the effort is well worth it.
Our new retail space
Willows Bend Farm is open to all who want to come and learn. We offer workshops, home arts classes, tomato tastings and other events as suggested by the community. Internships for those wishing to accept knowledge, experience, plants and produce in exchange for working on the farm are available. Come and spend one afternoon or the whole summer. See our Internship page for more information. We also welcome groups for tours, or just come have a picnic and enjoy the peace. For more information and lots of pictures, check out our Facebook page.
Alisa or Sandy attend several Farmers Markets in season. Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm, Sandy is at Magnolia Green in Richmond. During the spring and summer he is at Chesterfield on Wednesday afternoons. Fridays are McKenney Farmers Market. In addition we are at many special events and at the Dinwiddie County Fair from Sept 8th through the 10th.
If you see something in our inventory you like, we will be happy to take it to one of the markets, or hold it here for you to pick up. Hours at the farm are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm. Other hours by appointment. If you need to speak to the herbalist, call ahead to make sure Alisa will be there.
Bring your children to see the dogs, cats, chickens, turkeys, peacocks and pigs that call Willows Bend Farm home.
